"Experience salmon, halibut and ling cod fishing you have only dreamt of"

Imagine yourself on a private island....

Resident BearAn Island in Historical Nootka Sound on the beautiful West Coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. While you are fishing or sightseeing is not unusual to see Grey or Humpback Whales and maybe even a Killer Whale, Sea Lions, Seals, Bears, Eagles and much more all depending on the time of the year and all right from the cabin.

Experience fishing our famous Chinook Salmon (king) from June to September or Coho Salmon from September to October. The whitefish (bottom fish), Halibut or Ling Cod are not only great to catch but the scenery in their habitat is unbelievable. Don’t worry about rough Nice large fishseas though, salmon and rock cod can be caught right out our cabin door which is in Tlupana Inlet across from Camel Rock.

During the winter months November to March there is an abundance of crab, clams, oysters and prawns. This is our favorite time of the year on Oyster Island with winter storms for entertainment and the seafood is fun to collect and also really good eatin. No matter what time of year you will be sure to take home plenty of seafood so don’t forget a cooler or two.

Kayaking paradiseKayaking is a great way to explore Nootka Sound. Come stay with us on Oyster Island and use our Kayaks to see the surrounding area or bring your own to venture out further. We can transport you to great Kayaking destinations then pick you up again at days end to enjoy the luxuries we have to offer.

After an adventurous day of fishing and seeing the sights of Nootka Sound, sit back, relax with good friends, and enjoy the view from cabin deck. In the cooler months try out our saltwater wood heated Alumi-tubs hot tub to warm up in after all that seafood collecting. There is a fire pit on a rock bluff overlooking the ocean that we often cook meals on and love to hear some pretty good fishing stories.
Campfire cooking

There is always plenty of good homemade food served up; using our West Coast style of cooking your meals, we promise it will be a taste experience. If seafood is your preference then that is what you will get. The cookie jar is always full, but you might want to save yourself for Karen’s berry pies for dessert.

The cabin is nestled on 25-acres of privately owned island, which is accessed by taking a 45-minute boat ride with us or seaplane from Gold River. Once you get to Oyster Island the cottage is a 100-meter walk across the beach or you can take a trail through the old growth The cabinforest. Sorry but you do need to be in relatively good shape. The cottage has a large eat in kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms, flush toilet and hot shower, and can accommodate up to 4 guests comfortably.

Our boat is a 22Ft welded aluminum SilverStreak, with a 225hp Honda outboard, and a 9.5hp kicker. The heated cabin is fully enclosed and in case of emergency there is a private porta potty in the cuddy. We will supply all food, fishing gear, tackle, bait and look after you and your catch until you leave us.

Take advantage of our 3 night/4 day fishing packages or mix fishing with sightseeing or even sightseeing Eco tour; we can put together the getaway you dream of. Also available are day fishing/tour trips.

We look foreword to hearing from you soon to book your adventure in Historical Nootka Sound.
